martyr’s memorial

The design seeks to create a powerful place for contemplation and memory – a memorial dedicated to the gallant martyrs from Arunachal Pradesh who made the supreme sacrifice for their country.

The proposal derives its spatial order from the existing contours of the site; it establishes a symbolic ascent from the Entry Plaza to the Chamber of Memory – a gallery space carved into the earth that will orient visitors to the tales of valour, and evoke the history of the war and the critical roles of the soldiers from Arunachal Pradesh. The materials used are granite on the ramps and plaza (flamed and polished), and retaining walls made of reinforced cement concrete clad in rubble stone masonry.
